Providing an introduction into capacitor technology, a handbook titled ‘ABC of Capacitors - Basics, Characteristics and Capacitor Types’ has been published by Würth Elektronik eiSos. Written by Stephan Menzel, the reference book discusses the wide range of capacitor types, their properties and parameters.

The almost 80 page handbook, which is available in both German and English, can be used as an introduction for students or for consolidating knowledge of capacitors and their use in assemblies.

The relationships between electric field and permittivity, as well as the structure and operating principle of a capacitor, are explained by Menzel. Providing users with the information they need to consider when selecting capacitors, Menzel outlines the electric parameters and characteristics and their relationships. A detailed overview of the existing capacitor types and a bibliography follows this.

"It is important for Würth Elektronik eiSos to provide technical knowledge and to share it with customers. For example, we have already presented our technical knowledge in the form of books covering the fields of inductors, transformers, electromechanics and simulation with LTspice. As we are currently expanding our portfolio in the field of capacitors, the new topic was pertinent: The 'ABC of Capacitors' is a reference book that concisely presents the relationships and technical characteristics in capacitor technology," commented Stephan Menzel, Product Development Manager Capacitors, Würth Elektronik eiSos.

The ‘ABC of Capacitors - Basics, Characteristics and Capacitor Types’ handbook can be ordered from Würth Elektronik’s website.
