Energy Micro, the energy friendly microcontroller company, has made two key appointments to its worldwide sales and marketing team: Andreas Koller becomes Vice President of Sales and Marketing, based at Energy Micro's Oslo, Norway Headquarters. He brings to the company 13 years semiconductor industry experience with Texas Instruments, where he was Vice President & Director of Sales, Marketing and Applications Americas and previously Sales & Applications Director Europe, Middle East and Africa.
Raman Sharma joins Energy Micro as Vice President of Sales Americas, based in Chicago. Formerly Global Medical Segment Manager with Freescale Semiconductor, Raman brings ten years experience of technical sales and marketing with companies including OKI Semiconductor, Xilinx and Compaq Computer.

Geir Førre, Founder and CEO of Energy Micro said, I am very proud and excited that sales professionals of the calibre of Andreas and Raman have chosen to join Energy Micro. The market opportunity for our Gecko family of microcontrollers is significant and having the right sales team in place is vital.

Norwegian start-up Energy Micro launched its first product family, the ARM® Cortex(TM)-M3 based EFM32 Gecko microcontroller family in October 2009. Consuming less than a quarter of the energy of existing 8-, 16- or 32-bit microcontrollers the product has been cited as the world's most energy friendly microcontroller.

In March, the company received Elektronik magazine's Product of the Year Award in Germany, and the Embedded Award for Hardware at the Embedded World 2010 Exhibition & Conference in Nuremberg. Energy Micro is also a finalist in EE Times' Sixth Annual Creativity in Electronics (ACE) Awards in the Startup of the Year category.
