Control loop technology simplifies modular power supply design

According to TDK-Lambda, the control loop technology used in the latest SA power module results in 40% less through hole components and 42% less surface mount ones.

The addition of the SA modules to the QM series of 550 to 2,000W A/DC modular power supplies combines a digital controller and algorithms developed in-house to increase stability and enhance output response.

The SA modules are available with 5.0V /15A, 12V /12.5A, 15V /10A and 24V /6.25A outputs.

Phase mode control provides higher stability across a wide range of operating conditions for enhanced output response to sudden load changes and a faster and improved recovery, claims the company.

The company’s online Quick Product Finder will automatically optimise the most suitable modules to generate the most cost-effective supply for a customer requirement. It also provides a choice of signals, leakage current and standby voltages. Users need to enter the required output voltages and currents and the configurator will automatically produce a seven-digit code for an order placement.

All models in the QM series feature low acoustic noise and full MOPPs isolation. Supplies in the series have medical and industrial safety certifications for use in body floating (BF) -rated medical equipment, test and measurement, broadcast, communications and renewable energy applications. The QM series is certified to IEC/EN/UL/CSA 60601-1, ANSI/AAMI ES 60601-1, IEC/EN 61010-1 and IEC/EN/UL/CSA 60950-1 with CE marking for the Low Voltage, EMC and RoHS Directives.
