This year, binder is celebrating the 10th anniversary of the formation of its UK subsidiary. binder UK was established by current Managing Director David Phillips in 2009 at its present facility alongside the M1 motorway at Hemel Hempstead.

Like binder’s other subsidiaries, the UK operation is focused on market sectors which require high performance, high quality interconnection solutions. Sectors like automation and sensors are the traditional markets for binder but, over recent years, the company has developed connectors that suit the food and beverage industry, medical electronics, outdoor applications like agricultural and construction machinery as well as transportation including railways.

In addition to a direct sales team, binder’s product portfolio is available through a number of leading broadline and specialist distributors.

Commenting on the past ten years, David Phillips said: “I had spent a number of years working in the connector industry and was UK Sales Director for binder’s distributor Quadrant Connections when Franz binder GmbH came calling with the challenge of forming binder UK. It was an easy decision for me to take since binder assured me that Quadrant could continue as a key distributor.

“In the ten years since we started, we have worked hard to achieve year on year growth and have made a significant contribution to the success of the parent company as a whole. As a privately held company, I am unable to talk turnover figures but, in percentage terms, we have averaged 17% growth each year since 2009.

“This has been achieved by the efforts of our UK sales and support team, our distribution partners and some welcome assistance from the parent company. Other factors that have made a difference is our decision to maintain a substantial stockholding in the UK at Hemel and our investment in all forms of marketing to increase awareness of the binder brand.”
