Autoliv chooses TI for its world's first night vision system with pedestrian detection

Texas Instruments has announced that Autoliv, the global leader in automotive safety, has selected Texas Instruments as the supplier of processors for its new night vision system. This system with pedestrian detection capability uses a digital media processor based on DaVinci technology from TI coupled with a single far-infrared sensor.

This system with pedestrian detection capability uses a digital media processor based on DaVinci technology from TI coupled with a single far-infrared sensor.

TI’s portfolio of digital media processors based on DaVinci technology leverages a powerful DSP core and consists of scalable, programmable processors in a variety of architectures with accelerators and peripherals that are optimized for digital imaging end equipments. “TI’s digital media processors offer low power consumption coupled with exceptional vision processing performance and system control. TI provides solutions targeted at automotive driver assistance creating an environment of innovation which brings our customers quicker to market.

Autoliv has leveraged TI’s technology to create an outstanding embedded night vision system for the global automotive market,” states Thomas Castille, Automotive marketing manager at TI Europe.
