Fujikura Europe has upgraded its fibre fusion splicer range with the launch of its latest product, the 22S, an advanced FTTH splicer for single fibre which is the world’s smallest and lightest active V-groove model. The latest addition to Fujikura’s splicer family adds to the company’s portfolio to deliver a complete offering of splicing options from the basic, with the 12S, to the very advanced, which is met by the 70S.

The 22S is designed for high-end FTTH splicer applications in FTTX, data centre/LAN and access networks, and offers an active V-groove alignment single fibre splicer for reliable and improved splicing performance for a range of different fibres; SMF, MMF, DSF, NZDSF.

“Our 22S splicer is an incredibly exciting product which allows customers to opt for a level of splicing in between the 12S and 70S,” said Neil Bessant, Fusion Splicer Divisional Manager, Fujikura Europe. “It is a unique product, in that it delivers high-quality splicing without a higher price tag.”

The 22S provides advanced capabilities, including splice result storage of 200 splices and 5-16mm short cleave length splicing. Weighing just 1.1kg, including battery, it delivers 200 splice/tube heating cycles per full battery charge. Bessant added: “The robust, lightweight design of the 22S, coupled with the large 4.7” LCD screen, make this our most easy-to-use single fibre fusion splicer to date.”
