Multitest, a designer and manufacturer of final test handlers, contactors and load boards used by integrated device manufacturers (IDMs) and final test subcontractors worldwide, offers Plug&Yield®, a unique offering that comprises much more than other so-called “turnkey” solutions.
Multitest not only optimizes the project management by acting as one accountable partner for the entire project, but the company also ensure the best time to market. The following case study describes a project, for which Multitest successfully applied a concurrent engineering approach along with advanced simulation tools in order to develop an industry-leading solution for challenging high-frequency applications that require ambient-hot-cold testing.

As a company, Multitest faced the challenge of combining automotive tri-temp and high security standards with the RF requirements for a radar application. The previous implemented solution had temperature stability and electrical performance issues. Optimizing for one issue resulted in deteriorating another. Previous suppliers were not able to solve this.

Multitest’s ability to simulate high-speed connections, including its products and the customer's device, and then to verify this simulation in the laboratory, enabled the company to supply a product that performed to the customer's expectations without modification or redesign. The company has detailed 3D simulation models of its contactors that are verified by internal experimentation. Multitest’s integration team devised a scheme for insulating the tester side of the load board in order to reduce temperature drift.

Multitest’s unique product portfolio, along with more than 30 years of experience in test handling equipment, allowed the company to design and manufacture a solution that optimally combines the test handler with the package specific kit, as well as the contactor and the load board.
