Electrical testing and measurement is an area where safety needs to be paramount, and for this reason users will appreciate the new safety guide produced by Multi-Contact. The free 48 page booklet takes the user through the basic principles of safe working in the testing of electrical and electronic equipment, with particular reference to the latest international standards.
Published in response to customer queries that Multi-Contact regularly receives regarding test accessories, the guide concedes that the subject is not always straightforward. It offers useful hints to assist in the selection and use of the correct types of test leads and accessories and covers the latest updates to IEC/EN 61010-031, the main standard for the safe operation of electrical measuring accessories.

An outline of the CAT I to CAT IV measurement categories provides a simple reference to help the tester determine which category is applicable. There is also an FAQ section which provides answers on special aspects of measuring, such as Kelvin measurement, frequency dependence, and the use of passive and active oscilloscope probes.

The guide ends with a handy 20 page glossary of terms relating to electrical testing and measurement and to Multi-Contact's test accessories.
