The new APx585 from Audio Precision is the only audio analyser in the world capable of interfacing with HDMI and Blu-ray disc audio. With the APx HDMI option, engineers can now use the same familiar Audio Precision tools to measure HDMI audio quality and audio format compatibility on devices such as surround sound receivers, set-top boxes, HD TVs, and DVD and Blu-ray Disc(tm) players.
The APx HDMI option provides connections for source and sink devices as well as an auxiliary video input and a monitor output. On the input (HDMI sink), the APx will accept an HDMI signal and analyse the audio content. All standard audio measurements are available including level, SNR, distortion, phase, crosstalk and group delay.

Generated video formats and HDCP encryption can be toggled to test for their effects on embedded audio. Multiple signal paths can be defined to test all input and output variations, including HDMI input to speaker output and SPDIF input to HDMI output.

In addition to generating linear and PCM audio streams, the Apx option can stream lossless formats (such as dts-HD Master Audio(tm)) and compressed formats (such as Dolby Digital(tm) and dts Digital Surround(tm)) from pre-encoded audio test files. This feature makes it easy to troubleshoot component compatibility and downsampling, downmixing or transcoding issues. Streaming of .wav, .ac3, .dts, and .cpt over the SPDIF, TOSLINK, and AES/EBU digital outputs is also supported.

The APx585 is an 8-channel audio analyser capable of taking 14 measurements within seven seconds, automatically generating a report of results and saving all test settings in a single, shareable project file. Real-time signal monitors include residual THD+N in oscilloscope view and a one million point FFT.

Audio Precision, Inc. is exclusively represented in the UK by TTi, who offer the full range of audio analysers and switches for professional audio applications.
