Jäger Messtechnik (Lorsch, Germany), manufacturer and developer of ADwin, the hardware and software for the fastest real-time solutions, has teamed with Adept Scientific (Letchworth, Herts) to bring their powerful, real-time data acquisition solutions to the UK.

Modern systems are becoming more complex and faster with ever increasing numbers of signals. To successfully test these systems data acquisition equipment must be able to cope with these requirements. The use of real-time data acquisition with expandable I/O interfaces is, therefore, becoming more present in modern day facilities.

The ADwin systems provide flexible, modular data acquisition solutions to meet a wide variety of input and output needs. Due to their modular design, components with several hundred analogue and digital inputs and outputs can be used. Available modules, together with cable and adapter sets, include:

· processor modules

· analogue input/output modules

· digital input/output modules

· counter modules

· interface modules for various bus systems

· temperature measurement

· custom modules.

The combination of the ADwin system and its optimised software package ADbasic offers a flexible, modular development environment for real-time data acquisition applications operating from seconds to nano-seconds.

The real-time process programming is implemented in ADbasic, with communication between the PC and graphical user interface via the DLL and ADwin drivers. This enables the user to precisely estimate the scope of even the most challenging projects and deliver on-time.

The ADwin system executes all tasks that have to run fast, deterministically and with exact predictable time behaviour, for example:

· data acquisition with chronological and angular synchronism

· signal generation for laser and electron beam deflection and control

· closed-loop control of motion axes with force and position feedback.

Working with their standard PC, ADwin users continue to benefit from functionalities such as:

· visualisation, operation, data storage and back-up, use of databases

· network connectivity via Ethernet/TCP/IP

· real-time development and debugging, interactive testing with ADtools.

The ADwin software environment can be used with Windows (95/98/ME/NT/2000/XP/Windows 7) and Linux or as a stand-alone data acquisition system. ADwin also has drivers for many of the popular programming environments including DASYLab, MATLAB/Simulink, VB, VC/C++, LabVIEW, TestPoint and others.
