Aeroflex announced today that the PXI 3030 cdma2000/1xEV-DO Measurement Suite now supports Revision B (Rev B) of the standard, at no additional cost to current licensees. This latest upgrade extends the capabilities of the Aeroflex PXI 3000 Series test system to include fast and cost-effective production testing of mobile handsets, components, and chipsets to the new standard revision.
The PXI 3000 Series production test system with the PXI 3030 Option 102 upgrade for Rev B now performs the full range of parametric measurements on 1xEV-DO Rev B transmitters, including high-speed alignment and performance verification of devices operated in a non-signalling mode. The high speed and throughput for RF test of Rev B mobile handsets and characterization of RFICs dramatically reduces the cost of production testing. Coverage of multiple cellular and wireless connectivity standards – including Bluetooth, WLAN, and other standards in addition to 1xEVDO Rev B – allows full RF testing of a multi-mode device using a single box solution.

“We think it is a significant benefit to Aeroflex PXI 3000 customers that we provide ongoing software updates free of charge to current licensees of the cdma2000/1xEV-DO Measurement Suite, while our competitors customarily charge for supporting each new iteration of the standard,” commented Tim Carey, product manager, PXI 3000 Series at Aeroflex Test Solutions. “One single licence covers cdma2000, 1xEV-DO Rev 0, A and B.”
“The support for Rev B has been developed initially to support the indigenous Chinese handset market, where it is firmly established on the network standards roadmap,” he added. “But with operators widely reported as committed to adopting Rev B including KDDI, China Telecom, LG Telecom, PTCL, and INWI, we have identified that North American manufacturers of both handsets and RFICs will also soon be needing production test facilities for this standard.”

The modularity and software-defined functionality of the PXI 3000 Series renders the test system both flexible and future-proof. The system can be individually configured by the customer as required and additional standards can be added when necessary.
