Handheld scope can be personal waveform laboratory
The new PicoScope 2000 Series oscilloscopes deliver functionality of six instruments in an ultra-portable package. The two-channel, four-channel and mixed-signal models have the functionality of an oscilloscope plus a logic analyser (on MSO models), spectrum analyser, function generator, arbitrary waveform generator, and serial bus analyser with support for 15 protocols included as standard.
Handheld network testers offer alternative to laptop
A brand new range of handheld network testers – the NaviTEK NT – from Ideal Networks are now being stocked by distributor Conrad Business Supplies. Designed to help network professionals quickly pinpoint and solve issues with both copper and fibre optic cabling, the compact NaviTEK NT is a convenient and efficient alternative to using a software tool or a laptop for network troubleshooting.
CXPI options aid engineering efficiency for automotive applications
Clock extension peripheral interface (CXPI) decoding and triggering options have been unveiled by Keysight Technologies for its InfiniiVision3000T and 4000 X-Series oscilloscopes. Keysight says that these are the only oscilloscopes available that can decode and trigger on the CXPI bus. These new capabilities improve engineers’ efficiency in debugging the physical layer of CXPI serial buses, which are used primarily in automotive application...
Mixed-signal test generator accelerates designs
A new software tool from GÖPEL electronic allows test programs to be automatically generated from analogue/digital designs. The mixed-signal test generator automates test sequences which until now have been generated manually, dramatically reducing the overall conditioning and parametrisation work involved. As a result, project creation is safer, more effective and more flexible.
Tool box opens up range of test options
A new Datacentre Tool Box from Microlease has been introduced to equip data centre engineering teams and their subcontractors with the varied instrumentation support that they need to complete installation, upgrades and routine maintenance projects in a single package. It provides a customisable rental package of instruments and equipment for electrical power test, thermal imaging, cabling and optical transmission test – all to the latest s...
Step-by-step MOI simplifies cable assembly compliance
A new Method of Implementation (MOI) document for cable assembly compliance tests defined in Rev. 1.1 of the USB Type-C specification and Rev. 1.0 of the USB Type-C Compliance Test Specification (CTS) has been released by Keysight Technologies. The USB Type-C MOI, together with a test package such as Keysight’s state file, works with the M937xA PXIe multiport vector network analyser to provide the compliance test solution for USB Type-C cab...
MCU debug technology upgrade speeds development times
J-Link firmware has been introduced by SEGGER for the embedded ST-LINK on STM32 Nucleo, STM32 Discovery and other microcontroller unit (MCU) evaluation boards from STMicroelectronics. The upgrade turns a board’s ST-LINK interface into a fully functional J-Link, which can then be employed to debug the board's application processor.
PXIe digital multimeter leads way to smarter test systems
A 7½-digit high-performance DMM and 1.8 MS/s isolated digitiser, the NI PXIe-4081, has been launched by NI. It is the first PXI Express DMM available, says the company. It offers engineers the flexibility, resolution and isolation needed to tackle challenging applications that require smarter test systems in industries ranging from consumer electronics to aerospace and defence.
Class-D amplifier revs up mobile sound quality
To meet the demand for mobile devices offering top quality sound - without sacrificing power - Nanyang Technological University (NTU) has invented an ultra-high-quality Class-D amplifier. Created by NTU’s Division of Electrical and Electronics Engineering in Singapore, the ultra-high-quality chip can tolerate more 'noise' from other components in a device, which reduces distortion so the sound quality can be significantly improved.
Free visualisation tool for microcontroller customers
The µC/Probe data visualisation tool from Micrium has been licensed to Infineon Technologies for customers of its XMC family of microcontrollers based on ARM Cortex-M cores. The µC/Probe will be shipped at no cost for customers.
