Omron Electronic Components Europe is to premiere its embedded face and gesture recognition module to the public at electronica. New relays and switches for smart meters, electric vehicles, renewable energy systems and general industrial applications will also be featured on Omron’s stand.

Show visitors will be first to see demonstrations of the new Omron Human Vision Component (HVC) a module that integrates ten key image sensing functions with a camera in just 60 x 40mm. Developers can detect a human face, hand or body, and implement face recognition, gender detection, age estimation, mood estimation, facial pose estimation, gaze estimation, and blink estimation.

The module simply returns a value and a degree of certainty, so all developers need do is configure the system response appropriately for each individual application.

Also new from Omron at electronica will be relays that address the growing market for high voltage DC battery powered systems and renewable energy applications. The new Omron G9EJ-1-E is capable of interrupting 15A at 400VDC yet draws only 1.2W while switching.

Energy efficient latching relays, remote reset switches that can turn off electronic systems completely under software control and switching solutions for smart meters will also be featured. These will include a tamper detection switch that can reliably detect if the cover of a meter or another system has been removed.
