At London’s TechXLR8 show that took place 13th to 15th June 2017, Energenie presented Mi|Home, its smart home solution. Established in 2009, Energenie is an innovative consumer tech brand with an app-driven whole house automation solution, as well as an established range of energy saving electrical products. The Mi|Home range allows you to automate your lighting, electrical products and heating through its home automation app.

The range also enables you to monitor energy usage and see real time and projected energy costs. The Energenie team demonstrated three key products at TechXLR8: light switches, power sockets and window sensors.

The Smart Single Light Switch is available in a range of colours and is suitable for dimmable LED, halogen and incandescent bulbs, with up to five bulbs per circuit. It is a radio controlled switch for the switching of mains power to lighting and appliances up to 250W. Switching is initiated either by radio control or manually by pressing the button on the housing.

The Smart Door/Window Open Sensor is part of the Mi|Home home automation range and allows you to monitor window and door openings.

The Smart Double Wall Socket is available in nickel or white and is a radio controlled unit with individual power switching for each socket for use with appliances up to 3kW in each socket. Only the live feed is switched to the load and, as is the case with the light switch, switching is initiated either by radio control signal or manually by pressing the button on the housing.

In order to get the best use of your switches, sockets and sensors, Energenie have developed the Mi|Home Gateway. The Gateway provides the communications between all your MiHome devices and the internet. The Mi|Home system enables you to control your heating, lighting and appliances over the internet anywhere in the world.

The Mi|Home Gateway is the centre point of the Mi|Home system. It is powered by a 5V micro-USB power supply and connects to your router via an Ethernet cable. Both the Ethernet cable and the power supply are included with the Gateway. The Gateway enables you to control all the Mi|Home actuators via an iOS and Android app as well as via a web browser.

Thanks to the Mi|Home system, it is possible to cut the amount of energy used in the homes, save money on electricity bills, conserve energy and reduce the risk of fires caused by electrical appliances. For example, the GPS service can ensure your switches are turned off when you leave the house, and through the app you can turn off the lights without leaving the comfort of your own bed. There’s certainly no denying that our homes are getting smarter.
