Ultra-compact, custom power supplies meet demands of both land & air forces

UR Group’s new ultra-compact configurable power supply offers rugged, low-noise performance and short lead times for military applications up to 400W. Optimised for deployment in land-based vehicles and for airborne applications, and compatible with 12V or 24V electrical infrastructure, the new power supplies pass MIL-STD 810 and MIL-STD 1275 environmental and electrical tests.
Sealed inside a milled alloy enclosure, the power supplies exhibit outstanding EMC performance as well as high protection against ingress. The height of only 25mm and dimensions of 135mm x 171mm allow unobtrusive installation inside almost any vehicle. Mounting holes are provided, enabling easy fixing to a bulkhead. An optional mounting plate is also available.

Customers can specify up to three outputs by choosing from pre-approved and pre-tested modules. A wide variety of voltage and power options are available, from 2.5V to 48V including 28V, and from 35W to 400W. There is also an auxiliary 5V@1A output. The PSUs’ modularity minimises turnaround time for units meeting individual customer requirements. UR says it can deliver custom, military PSUs within six to eight weeks based on this platform. They are entirely designed and manufactured in the United Kingdom.

Built-in features promoting rugged and reliable performance in modern operating scenarios include a Nuclear Electromagnetic Pulse (NEMP) detection circuit with shut-down and auto-recover capabilities to prevent failure due to pulse damage. All connections to the PSU, including an input for an external hold-up capacitor, are made through the unit’s three sealed D-type connectors. This makes the power supply easier to install and commission, while also maintaining effective sealing of the enclosure.

The power supplies are available in NATO green as standard, and alternative colours available on request.
