Pewatron AG is launching the world’s smallest insulated and controlled DC/DC converter in the 9W class – the PDL09 range from P-DUKE Power Mate Technology. The PDL09 converter is housed in a small, flat SIP-8 miniature package, measuring just 21.8 x 9.1 x 11.2 mm. But with a power density of up to 66W per cubic inch, it sets a record level in the market, exceeding the levels of the similarly sized PDL06 and standard commercial models by 50%.

Its extreme power density is the result of its innovative design and use of flat, highly efficient power transistors.

With its wide input rate (2:1), the PDL09 is produced in 27 versions, while the PDL09W, with its ultra-wide input rate (4:1), is available in 18 versions. All are RoHS II and REACH-compliant and meet international safety standards, such as EN60950-1, IEC60950-1 and UL60950-1. With insulation resistance of 1600 VDC (input to output), all versions have short circuit and overload protection, and can be turned on and off with a remote control. They are available with a single or dual PIN connection and no minimum load is required for them to function perfectly.

The PDL09 and the PDL09W are available with either a non-conductive plastic case or a copper casing. Inside, the high quality silicone-based, thermal transfer potting material guarantees optimal conduction of heat to the external housing and thus to the surroundings. This enables it to operate reliably at full load at ambient temperatures of between -40 and +60°C, and even above 80°C with derating.

The PDL09(W) converters are suited for use in wireless networks, telecommunication and data communication systems, industry control systems, semiconductor equipment and distributed power architectures.
