TDK-Lambda has expanded its DC-DC converter line-up with the introduction of the new iQG Series, providing high true useable power in an industry standard quarter-brick footprint. With up to 95% efficiency and a maximum power rating of 300W, these supplies are ideally suited for tight space, power-hungry applications with demanding thermal environments, such as ATCA-based communications equipment, where high reliability is critical. The iQG Series is also well-suited to various 48V powered architectures as deployed in industrial, factory automation, robotics equipment and broadcast markets.

The iQG Series is initially available as a 12V model, with further products planned. The converter offers up to 95% power conversion efficiency, 180W/in3 power density and delivers up to 25A useable output current. The monotonic start-up into a pre-bias output capability and high capacitive load enhances versatility.

Throughout the open frame, single board construction, particular attention has been made to the overall thermal design including component height, location and orientation. As a result, the iQG Series is compatible with all cooling strategies, including contact, convection and forced air, and offers outstanding thermal performance for cooler operation over its operating temperature range of -40 to +125ºC. Furthermore, the proprietary TDK ASIC control circuitry – bringing a significant component count reduction, as well as improved reliability and lower cost – makes the iQG Series well-suited as replacements or upgrades in legacy applications.

Standard features include fixed frequency operation, 1500Vdc input to output isolation and negative remote on/off, as well as auto-recovery of input under voltage, output over current and over temperature protection circuitry. Latching / non latching protection, auto-recovery output over voltage protection, positive polarity on/off and no base plate are offered as options.

Safety approvals for TDK-Lambda’s new iQG Series include UL60950 (US and Canada), VDE 0805, CB scheme (IEC950), and CE Mark (EN60950).
