A range of boost switching regulators that enable designers to power devices such as microcontrollers, radio modules, or energy-conscious IoT systems at up to 100mA for long periods from a single 1.5V cell is available at Dengrove Electronic Components. The RECOM R-78S 0.33W regulators ensure longer lifetime by maintaining a stable 3.3V output as the battery discharges as low as 0.65V.

This wide input-voltage range enhances flexibility to use alkaline, NiCd, NiMH, zinc-carbon or lithium cells. The converters are also extremely energy efficient, operating at up to 93% efficiency at full load and over 80% at lighter loads.

No-load current consumption is 160μA, and can be reduced to 7μA by using the control pin.

The new boost converters deliver the same plug-and-play convenience of the RECOM R-78 buck series, and integrate continuous short-circuit protection with auto-recovery, over-temperature protection, and under-voltage lockout to prevent deep discharge of rechargeable cells.

hey are specified for operation in ambient temperature range from -40°C to +100°C, certified to the new EN62368-1 standard, and housed in a UL94V-0 plastic SIP4 package only 11.6mm x 8.5mm wide and 10.4mm tall.

All units are covered by a three-year manufacturer’s warranty.
