Silicon power Schottky diodes, particularly suitable for switching power supplies, have been introduced by America Semiconductor. The SD51 silicon power Schottky diodes feature a continuous forward current of 60A and repetitive peak reverse voltage of 45V.

Suited for high-reliability commercial and industrial applications, the diodes minimise conduction and switching losses in high-frequency power supply designs by delivering very low forward voltage drops and fast turn-off characteristics.

As well as switching power supplies, the SD51 silicon power Schottky diodes are also suitable for converters, freewheeling diodes, and reverse battery protection. The Schottky diodes feature a non-repetitive peak surge current of 800A, forward voltage of 0.66V and operate over a temperature range from -65 to +150°C.

The SD51 diodes are supplied in a standard DO-5 stud-mount package and feature rugged construction and long-term reliability.
