Saft named Li-ion Battery Manufacturer of the Year and awarded for Green Innovation

Saft was named the Li-ion Battery Manufacturer of the Year, recognized for excellence and contributions to safety, cost, performance, innovations and future capability of its Jacksonville Li-ion manufacturing plant. Saft broke ground on the new factory earlier this year where they will build advanced Li-ion cells and batteries for military hybrid vehicles, aviation, smart grid support, broadband back-up power and energy storage for renewable energy. Saft Jacksonville will be operational mid 2011. For development of Sol-ion, Europe’s largest PV energy conversion and storage project, Saft was selected for the Green Innovation of the Year award, which highlights environmental innovations from, and for, the battery industry. “Saft’s lithium ion technology has a long history of superior performance and reliability in military and space sectors; we’re thrilled to now receive recognition for its use in clean vehicle and renewable energy storage applications,” said Lee Kosla, sales manager for the Group’s Energy Storage Activity who accepted the awards on behalf of Saft.

“Saft is committed to developing advanced Li-ion batteries to support renewable energy programs that conserve energy and protect the environment.” The Battery Show Awards Presentation took place on October 6, at 4:30 p.m. at the San Jose Convention Center. Judged by a panel of renowned journalists and independent specialists from various countries, the Awards highlight and acknowledge battery engineering excellence. Judges apply their impressions from their contact with today's latest technology to help them find the solutions and achievements that offer the best performance, economy, and durability, and reward manufacturers for the successful application of advanced battery technology and services to the industry.
