Riello UPS, Europe’s leading manufacturer of uninterruptible power supplies (UPS) has just signed an exclusive distribution deal with Vycon, the world’s leading flywheel energy storage systems designer and manufacturer. The relationship allows Riello UPS to supply the innovative and highly efficient Voltage Direct Connect (VDC) flywheel in Europe, the Middle East & Africa (EMEA).
The VDC flywheel will complement the traditional lead acid battery sets used in Riello’s range of UPS systems for protecting mission critical applications.

The VDC flywheel is the latest generation in flywheel technology and provides a reliable, low-maintenance alternative (or addition) to battery sets.

During a power failure or disruption, the Vycon VDC flywheel provides a clean, short supply of DC power to a Riello UPS system until the source of power is restored – either through the mains, an emergency generator, or for extra resilience a battery set.

Roberto Facci, commercial director for Riello UPS, said: “The agreement with Vycon strengthens the range of solutions that Riello UPS is capable of offering its clients.

“The technology of the VDC, due to its reliability, reduced total cost of ownership (TCO) and environmental sustainability, is of great interest to numerous business sectors, from finance and banking, healthcare, computer services and data centres.

“The integration of these systems with Riello UPS solutions will therefore constitute a real advantage for our clients”.

Environmentally friendly, reliable and highly efficient (up to 99.4%), the VDC flywheel energy storage system also boasts a compact footprint and requires minimal maintenance making it an ideal solution for applications and installations where continuous power is essential.

The partnership with Vycon further demonstrates Riello UPS’ commitment to efficiency, innovation and environmental sustainability, whilst continuing to offer its clients reliable, turn-key solutions for power protection requirements.
