Enabling compact design and quiet operation in applications such as home appliances and office automation equipment, Toshiba Electronics Europe has introduced four motor driver ICs. The TB67S269FTG bipolar stepping motor driver provides 50V and 2A for printers, office automation equipment, ATMs, amusement machines and home appliances.

Utilising Toshiba’s ADMD motor driving technology, the TB67S269FTG reduces heat, increases efficiency and offers a low on resistance of 0.8Ω or less. Vibration and noise are reduced with high-resolution motor driving technology of 1/32 steps (maximum). Providing thermal and overcurrent shutdown circuitry to improve safety and reliability, the bipolar stepping motor driver is supplied in a 7x7x0.5mm QFN48 package which supports downsizing and cost reduction.

Three phase, brushless, Hall sensorless driver ICs, the TB67B001FTG, TB67B008FTG and TB67B008FNG, are suitable for use in cooling fans in home appliances such as refrigerators. A 150° wide-angle commutation drive enables lower vibration and motor noise, ideal for use in eco-conscious home appliances. Operating over a 4-22V voltage range with a maximum output current of 3A, rotation speed up to 30,000rpm is achieved via a high speed PWM and improved cooling. The TB67B001FTG is supplied in a 5x5x0.9mm VQFN36 package; the TB67B008FTG in a 4x4x0.75mm WQFN24 package; and the TB67B008FNG is available in an 8.3x7.6x1.6mm SSOP24 package.

Mass production of all four devices is scheduled to start in October 2014.
