Power supply AC adapter receives medical certifications

GlobTek has announced Intertek ETL certificates and reports for its Medical (60601-1) Power Supply AC Adapter series WR9QA1000USBNMEDRVB GTM41078-0605-USB. The unit is certified to 2MOPP (and 2MOOP), referring to two independent systems of insulation protecting the patient from dangerous voltages. A single insulating component can receive this rating based on extensive testing.

The miniature universal input switching power supply mode is available in Class II, 2 Prong and interchangeable blade configurations. GlobTek’s changeable input blade system has individual field replaceable input plugs for North America/Japan, Europe, United Kingdom, Australia and New Zealand, China, Korea, Argentina, India, Brazil, and also an IEC320 type configuration.

The power supply has an input from 90-264VAC at 50-60Hz and a factory configurable output of 5-6VDC with a maximum power of 6W continuous output. This product complies with North American Energy Star, Canadian NRCAN, EISA, EuP, and other worldwide requirements for Level V efficiency compliance and is produced in an ISO13485 certified facility.

This family features regulated output with very low ripple, built-in over current, short circuit, over current, and thermal protection as well as low leakage, low ripple, and high efficiency. The product is suitable for most applications requiring DC power and common applications include medical devices, portable medical treatment and monitoring equipment and instruments, hospital equipment and fixtures, equipment, and as a power source for Li-Ion battery chargers.

The unit has a standard USB type A connector and standard or custom USB cables may be ordered as required. Customised enclosure colours, housing designs, output cord types and lengths, as well as customised packaging, are available upon request.

The power supply can be supplied with customer designated output plugs, many of which are stocked at GlobTek's New Jersey and Suzhou locations.

The power supplies comply with IEC 60950-1 2nd edition or IEC60601-1 3rd edition and have certifications by UL, C-Tick, Iram, BSMI, CB, CCC, Demko, eK, NRCAN, Spring, SIQ, Gost, PSB and UkrSEPRO. They also comply with Canadian NRCAN efficiency requirements as well as FCC/VCC/CE EMC requirements.

The adapter is qualified to the latest North American national standard ANSI/AAMI ES60601-1 (3rd Edition). Specifically ANSI/AAMI ES60601-1 Issued: 2006/03/09: 2005 Version (R2012) with AMD C1: 2009, AMD C2: 2010 & CAN/CSA-C22.2 No.60601-1 Issued: 2008/02/01; with COR 2:2011/06/01). The model is also CB and Semko certified to IEC 60601-1: 2005 + CORR. 1 (2006) + CORR. 2 (2007) and group and national differences for the CENELEC countries. The unit is CE Mark Certified to EN 60601-1-2:2007, EN 55022:2010, EN 61000-3-2:2006+A1:2009+A2:2009, EN 61000-3-3:2008, and EN 55024:2010. Intertek ETL Certification, recognised by the OSHA Nationally Recognised Testing Laboratory Programme, is required for demonstrating compliance to UL standards for switching power supplies. A five year warranty is provided as standard.
