Many small connected devices, such as wireless headsets, wearable devices, connected bracelets and smart watches, require low-power optimisation. Dolphin Integration directly addresses low-capacity Li-Ion or Li-Po batteries with its recently-released low-power battery charger. The BC-Livingstone.01 can charge a single-cell battery from all kinds of USB adapters, with a maximum current of 500mA.

The BC-Livingstone.01 benefits from advanced control and protection features, such as under/over voltage limitation or battery temperature monitoring. To ease SoC integration of the battery charger, the BC-Livingstone.01 is delivered with a set of simulation models for verifying mode transitions.

An input voltage of up to 5.75V is enabled by design, using standard CMOS 3.3 V/1.2 V logic process. The charger, which draws 50µA in monitoring mode and 5µA in shutdown mode, supports trickle charge, constant current and constant voltage with fast charge, thanks to a programmable current up to 500mA.

All Silicon IPs are designed by Dolphin Integration following ISO9001 quality procedures and are thoroughly verified through simulation using the single-kernel mixed-signal simulator SMASH, by applying Dolphin Integration's Virtual Fab Process which ensures that measurements are guaranteed to qualify the silicon.
