Voltage references deliver precise A-to-D conversion

The industry’s most precise and lowest output noise radiation hardened voltage references, the ISL71090SEH12 and ISL71090SEH25, have today been introduced by Intersil. Ideal for the latest generation of telemetry equipment, data acquisition systems and high-end instrumentation products in space and satellite applications, the new ISL71090SEH12 and ISL71090SEH25 rad-hard voltage references are offered in space saving surface mount packaging.

Ensuring robust performance in heavy ion environments, Intersil’s rad hard analog devices leverage an innovative SOI-based PR40 process providing Single Event Latch-up immunity. Modern space application system designers have had to make performance tradeoffs to meet stringent radiation hardened requirements, but the ISL71090SEH12 and ISL71090SEH25 reduce performance compromises in even the most challenging applications.

Providing initial voltage accuracy of ±0.05% and ±0.15% over the entire military temperature and radiation exposure ranges, the new Intersil voltage references deliver very precise analog-to-digital conversion. This enables support for highly precise analog-to-digital conversions.

Featuring a very low temperature coefficient of 10ppm/°C, the new ISL71090SEHxx devices offer an ultra-low output noise specification of 2µVp-p at 2.5Vout, and 1µVp-p at 1.25Vout. Reducing disturbances on components measuring precision signals, the low output noise meets stringent DC precision and low noise requirements of critical high-end instrumentation, data acquisition, and processing applications.

  • SET mitigation uses single output capacitor for LET threshold of 86MeV.cm2/mg, reducing board space and system cost,
  • Excellent line and load regulation ensure accuracy over variations in input voltage and load current.

Pricing and availability:

Available now in a compact 8-lead flatpack, prototype prices for the ISL71090SEHx voltage references (1.25V and 2.5V) start at $126.24 each. Priced at $88.24 (USD) each, the ISL71090SEH12EV1Z and ISL71090SEH25EV1Z evaluation boards offer two voltage options, 1.25V and 2.5V respectively. These evaluation boards measure the performance of the ISL71090SEHx voltage references.
