Designed to control MOSFETs in automotive DC/DC power converters, the GDAU series of high insulation gate-drive transformers have been introduced by PREMO. The devices, which measure less than 8mm height, offer an insulation level of 3kV and a creepage distance greater than 5mm.

The transformers feature a unique insulted wire and construction, lowering the parasitic elements to values fully optimised for a switching frequency in the 90-125kHz range. The GDAU-001 reference provides a 1:1+1 turn-ratio that can command two transistors of the same polarity at once. It can withstand 150Vus without any noticeable saturation.

To prevent the output control voltage from any noticeable droop, the GDAU devices provide a magnetising inductance value of no less than 400µH. The low DC resistance values of the windings ensure the devices’ capability to drive currents up to 0.5Arms continuous without overheating.

Fully compliant with the automotive AEC-Q200 standard, the transformers operate from -40 to +155°C. Featuring UL94V-0 listed insulating materials and a total weight of less than 5g, the devices show no thermal aging effect on this wide operating temperature range.

Offered in tape and reel packaging, the GDAU devices are fully compliant with most RoHS lead-free reflow soldering techniques. The transformers are also 100% compatible with AOI systems for final assembled PCB control.
