Just announced by Aspen Electronics is a highly versatile, general purpose DC power supply, ideal for a wide range of R&D, production test and instrumentation applications. , manufactured by GW Instek, is the first model of the company’s newly designed, state-of-the-art power supply platform. It offers 375W of output power, three isolated outputs and dual channel mode operation.
Designed for benchtop or portable use, the power supply delivers highly efficient power conversion, low noise, high reliability and safe operation in a compact package. The dual channel mode allows each channel to operate across either of two ranges: 30V/6A or 60V/3A per channel. In the auto Series/Parallel tracking operation mode, the SPD-3606 provides the master output at 30V/12A, 60V/6A, or 120V/3A. One SPD-3606 can cover three output types and a wide range of output voltage/current combinations. These features make the instrument extremely versatile, suiting a wide range of applications, including R&D laboratory use, design and development, production test, ATE and instrumentation and even field service and maintenance.

Excellent power conversion efficiency means the instrument uses and wastes much less energy than older designs, particularly linear power supplies. Built-in safety features avoid accidental damage, including reverse polarity protection, OVP (Over Voltage Protection) and OTP (Over Temperature Protection). The instrument automatically selects 115V/230V source internally to avoid the possibility of the wrong AC power being connected.

The instrument is fully programmable, and users can preset the voltage and current levels, check the DUT connection, then control the output either manually or remotely. Also provided as an optional item is a control guard knob, which when used to replace the standard Voltage/Current control knob, prevents accidental output level change. This feature is particularly useful for automated test systems where output levels can be locked to prevent accidental adjustment.

The SPD-3606 is available from stock at Aspen Electronics, and is priced competitively at £459.
