An IndieGoGo campaign has been launched by startup Pompa Adapter to raise funds for a charging adapter which can double charging speeds for Android and iOS devices. A smart IC inside the PompAdapter allows you to change the charging mode of your device, regardless of cable used, in order to provide the maximum current and, therefore, the shortest charging time.

The maximum charging current of a device is often dependent upon how much power the mobile/tablet has i.e., the maximum current often keeps decreasing as the battery approaches full. The PompAdapter solves this problem by ensuring that the power supply interface matches the device’s charging mode to provide the maximum current it needs to charge in as a short a time as possible.

The PompAdapter includes an auto turn-off function in order to preserve the battery. This means that you do not need to unplug your device when it is 100% charged and can actually see how much faster your device is charging.

The adapter also features an LCD which displays real-time charging information including the voltage and current.

At the time of writing, the campaign has been funded 537% of its flexible goal but is still accepting funding for 2 months. The first units are expected to ship in August 2016.
