The ZSPM1504, a single-phase true-digital power controller optimised for powering SoC supplies in embedded computing applications, has been released by ZMDI. The ZSPM15xx family features ZMDI’s Sub-Cycle Response technique to drive the digital pulse width modulation asynchronously during load transients. This enables the controller to minimise the output voltage deviation and allow the output capacitors to recharge faster. It permits the SoC to perform at peak performance, even under a highly dynamic power load.

The ZSPM1504 is pre-configured to provide customers with a fast time-to-market and easy-to-design solution for high-performance, digitally controlled power supplies with one of ZMDI’s integrated MOSFET power stage DrMOS products: the ZSPM9000, ZSPM9010, ZSPM9015 or ZSPM9060. The controller’s flexible design allows users to easily select the over-current protection limit, output voltage rise time and control loop compensation via two external resistors to achieve the highest performance in their application. As a global supplier of analogue and mixed-signal solutions for automotive, industrial, medical, information technology and consumer applications, ZMDI is introducing the ZSPM1504 to expand its energy-efficient power management ICs product line for pre-designed, smart POL solutions in embedded computing applications.

The controller is capable of supporting loads up to 30A and the popular bus voltage 1.5V. ZMDI also provides BOMs and circuit board layouts to improve customer design cycles, reduce external component cost and minimise application footprint size.

“Embedded computing solutions require an ultra-compact solution with a fast transient load response to meet the performance needs of SoCs,” said Hensen Wong, Product Marketing Manager, Power Management Division, ZMDI. “ZMDI is able to provide customers with a high performing digital power solution, fast time-to-market, streamlined BOM and PCB layout files.”
