A series of medical DC converters, the ‘G&H’ series, has been launched by PowerPax, from global power conversion manufacturer Mornsun. This range features un-regulated dual output, G series and single output, H series, parts in both 1 and 2W variants in an industry standard SIP package which is manufactured of black flame-retardant and heat resistant plastic (UL94 V-0 rated).

This series is aimed at the medical market with all parts meeting the medical design standards EN60601-1 and ANSI/AAMI ES60601-1 3rd Edition (1xMOPP/2xMOOP).

These converters feature fixed inputs of 3.3, 12, and 24VDC with a ±10% range and have efficiency levels of up to 81%. Dual outputs are provided in the range ±5VDC to ±15VDC with single outputs available from 3.3-15VDC. All models feature excellent ripple and noise characteristics with line regulation of ±1.5% maximum and load regulation of 15% typical.

This series features reinforced insulation and input to output isolation of 4200V AC/6000VDC for 1 minute. The internal transformer is specifically designed to ensure that the creepage and clearance of the module's transformer is 5mm minimum and the creepage and clearance on the PCB is 5.5mm minimum, patient leakage is less than 2µA, (250VAC 50/60Hz). The operating temperature range of these converters is -40 to +85°C and they have an MTBF of 350K hr’s (MIL-HDBK-217F).

These converters have an internal surface mount construction and use the latest automated manufacturing techniques to provide high quality and low production costs, ensuring the best price to the end user. Production volumes of this series are available in one of the shortest lead times in the industry, typically 4 weeks and samples for prototyping and evaluation are generally available from stock.

These converters are primarily designed for use in medical application but the compact size, high isolation, low isolation capacitance and low leakage characteristics make them ideally suited for a wide range of applications where these characteristics are desirable.
