Suitable for high input voltages, TDK's PH-A280 series of DC-DC power modules are successors to the existing PH-S280 and PH-F280 series. The product series is half the size of its forerunners with 5% higher efficiency (up to 90%).

The input voltage upper limit has been extended to 425Vdc, making the PH-A280 suitable for the emerging 380Vdc power architecture, which is used in datacentres and telecommunications facilities, where the use of higher voltage helps to reduce losses. The International Telecommunication Union Telecommunication Standardization Sector (ITU-T) and International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) are driving regulations for device specifications, system configurations, safety measures, and component/device specifications.

Being conduction cooled, the new series is equally well-suited for a wide range of industrial and renewable energy applications, particularly in outdoor equipment that is water-cooled, hermetically sealed, of fanless construction and compact. Ranging in output power models from 50-150W with output voltages of 5, 12, 24 and 48Vdc (up to ±20% adjustable), the dimensions of the PH-A280 follow the industry standard quarter-brick format (37.2 x 12.7 x 58.3 mm). Complying with safety standards including UL/CSA/EN 60950-1 and CE marked in accordance with the low voltage (LV) and RoHS Directives, the PH-A280 series comes with a warranty of five years.
