XP Power today announced the launch of its IM and IT series of 2 and 3 Watt board mounted regulated DC/DC converters. Encapsulated in a plastic non-conductive SIP format package, measuring 26.0 x 12.5 x 9.3 mm (1.02 x 0.49 x 0.36 inches) the devices offer an extra wide 4:1 input range and an input to output isolation of 1.5kV for up to 1 minute. They are ideal for use in mobile, portable and wireless products where board space is at a premium and designers seek to reduce the size of their end product.
Together the IM series, rated at 2 Watts, and the IT series, rated at 3 Watts, provide a total of 28 variants. Covering the nominal input voltages of 12, 24 and 48 VDC, each series offers either 9 – 36 VDC or 18 – 75 VDC input ranges. Within each range single and dual output versions are available. Single output models provide +3.3, 5, 12 or 15 VDC while the dual output units offer +/-5, +/-12 or +/-15 VDC. All outputs are fully regulated to within +/-0.5% over all input conditions and to less than +/-0.5% over all load conditions from 10 – 100% load. A remote on/off function allows an external signal to control the converter.

The units can operate, without any additional heat sinking or forced airflow, from -40 degrees C to +100 degrees C. Full power output is available up to +75C degrees C and with derating up to the maximum case temperature of +100 degrees C. These highly reliable DC/DC converters have an MTBF in excess of 1.2 million hours as defined by MIL-HDBK-217F calculations.
The units have a 3 year warranty and are available from Farnell or direct from XP Power.
