Texas Instruments has introduced a series of 1.5-A and 3-A low-dropout linear regulators that feature a one percent voltage regulation accuracy rate over line, load and temperature. The easy-to-use LDOs meet the sequencing requirements for high-current applications such as telecom, notebooks and servers that use FPGAs and TI's digital signal processors (DSPs).

TI's new TPS74xxx LDOs are stable with any or no output capacitor and support input voltages as low as 0.9 V. The external bias permits low input voltage operation with excellent transient response while providing a high power supply rejection ratio (PSRR). The track input allows user-programmed
sequencing to minimize the voltage difference among supply rails during startup. The enable input (EN) and power-good (PG) outputs allow easy sequential sequencing with external regulators.

The TPS74xxx family can yield dropout voltages as low as 115 mV at 3 A over the entire input voltage range. They also offer an adjustable output range of 0.8 V to 3.3 V.
