Buck converter delivers high efficiency over full load range
Designed for battery-powered applications such as mobiles and wearables, the AP3405 DC/DC buck converter has been introduced by Diodes Incorporated. Delivering high efficiency under light and heavy loads, the converter's fixed switching frequency of 2MHz reduces the size of external components while a small U-DFN2020-8 package saves board area.
The AP3405 current mode, PWM synchronous, step-down converter operates with a 2.3 to 5.5VIN range and supplies an output from 0.7 to 5.5V, accurate to ±1.5% up to 600mA. A low 32μA quiescent current draw helps extend battery life and internal MOSFETs with low RDS(ON) enable high efficiency under all load conditions.
Comprehensive protection features built into the AP3405 protect both the end system and the device itself. These include hiccup mode short-circuit protection, under-voltage lock-out, over-temperature protection and over-current protection.
The AP3405, in the U-DFN2020-8 package, is priced at $0.33 each in 1,000 unit quantities.
