Targeting mission-critical industrial and military power system designs, the PF1350 and PF1351 AC frequency converter power supplies have been announced by Powerstax. These compact, power factor-corrected bench-top units offer an excellent combination of performance, flexibility and cost effectiveness.

The PF1350 and PF1351 offer up to 1350VA of AC power from local power inputs between 95VAC and 270VAC and feature a 100% power factor rating. Offering a clean sine wave output with strong line and load regulation, the power supplies provide high conversion efficiency levels of 75% (typical) and low total harmonic distortion of 1.5% at full load.

While both units have two voltage ranges, 0-135V AC and 0-270V AC, the PF1350 has three fixed, selectable output frequencies of 50, 60 and 400Hz while the PF1351 features a continuously variable output frequency range of 45-500Hz (a 45-1000Hz output frequency range version is also available). Both AC frequency converter power supplies can be controlled from their front panels or remotely using an optional RS232 or IEEE-488 interface.

They feature a unique overload protection system which folds back the voltage to maintain the rated output current without any waveform distortion occurring. An internal temperature sensor is incorporated to prevent heat damage, while a short circuit protection mechanism latches the output open to safeguard the load.

Both power sources are supplied in compact 88.9mm (3.5") profile enclosures which can be easily and economically converted for rack mounting. Operating over a temperature range from 0 to +50°C, the AC frequency converters are CE-marked, enabling them to be employed across all EU member states.
