An upgrade to the PFE700S launched 5 years ago, the 700W PFE700SA AC/DC power module has been introduced by TDK Corporation. The 700W model expands the existing PFE-SA series of AC/DC full-brick power modules, boasting a 3% efficiency improvement when compared to the PFE700S. The efficiency improvement provides an AC/DC board mounted solution for applications such as industrial, MIL-COTS, broadcast, datacom and telecom, test & measurement, LED displays and signage.

The module is offered with a 51V semi-regulated output and can deliver full power with a baseplate temperature of between -40 and +100°C. Line and load regulation is 50 to 57V and typical efficiency for the PFE700SA is up to 91%. As with other existing models in the PFE-SA series, the PFE700SA accepts a wide, universal AC input from 85V to 265V at 47-63Hz. Active PFC is also a feature, in addition to an input to output isolation of 3kV for one minute. Over voltage, over current and over temperature protections are included, while the inverter operation good functions enable flexibility in the diagnostics of the power system.

The module is suited for building into outdoor applications, due to being baseplate-cooled, as well as equipment requiring water-cooling, hermetic sealing, fanless operation and compact design. Coming with a 5-year warranty, the PFE700SA conforms to EN/UL/CSA 60950-1 safety approvals for general purpose applications. It also carries the CE mark according to the low voltage (LV) and RoHS Directives.
