High density AC/DC FEMs include isolation & PFC
Vicor has expanded its family of high density PFM AC/DC FEMs in the rugged VIA package that offers superior cooling performance and versatility in converter mounting. Featuring an 85-264VAC input range input range, PFC and a fully isolated 24 or 48VDC output, the modules deliver 400W of isolated, regulated, DC output power at efficiencies up to 93%.
Wireless charging ICs support both WPC & PMA 15W standards
Semtech has announced the addition of dual-mode WPC Qi 1.2 and PMA SR1E medium power 15W capability to its TS80000 portfolio of wireless charging solutions. This allows customers to support the growing market of portable electronics with increased battery capacity for quick charging medical and industrial devices, smartphones and tablets.
Reducing BoM cost of IoT circuits
For SoCs supplied by Lithium-ion or alkaline batteries, the actual voltage ranges from 4.4V, down to 2.0V over their lifetime. They empower IoT devices, which are often put in sleep mode in order to extend their battery life, requiring ultra-low voltage supplies for their Always-on and retention domains.
Power supplies operate at 230VAC with enhanced power factor
APV-8/12/16 series and APC-8/12/16 series are economical low wattage LED power supplies (or, drivers) with a high cost-performance ratio. MEAN WELL is now announcing, adopting identical enclosure, APV-8E/12E/16E series and APC-8E/12E/16E series that operate at the 230VAC range with the enhanced power factor, the less no load power consumption (<0.5W) and the shorter setup time (<500ms).
Multi-regulator PMIC needs no additional circuitry
A series of highly integrated automotive-grade power-management devices from STMicroelectronics incorporates multiple voltage regulators on a single die, allowing manufacturers of car-infotainment systems to reduce the cost and size of their products. The first member of the series, the L5963, integrates two switching regulators for step-down DC/DC conversion, a linear LDO regulator, and a high-side driver.
Power supply to become more efficient, more stable & more secure
Highly developed societies require a stable power supply that also protects the environment. The goal then is to generate electricity in as targeted and sustainable a way as possible and to transmit it and use it as efficiently as possible. The research project "E2SG" (Energy to Smart Grid) supports these goals.
Littelfuse invests in silicon carbide technology
As part of the company’s strategy to move more significantly into power semiconductors for industrial and automotive markets, Littelfuse has made an investment in Monolith Semiconductor, a start-up company developing silicon carbide technology.
Low-noise amplifier front-end modules feature integrated filters
Skyworks introduces two global navigation low-noise amplifier front-end modules with integrated filters: the SKY65713-11 and SKY65715-81. Both solutions support products integrating GNSS functionality such as smartphones, personal navigation devices, wearables, M2M systems, base stations, asset tracking instruments, professional radios and IoT applications.
The changing landscape of wireless charging
Developments in the rapidly evolving wireless charging market are improving the technology’s speed and efficiency, but a confusing standards situation is still holding things back, writes Sally Ward-Foxton.
Digital power amplifiers for car audio deliver cleaner sound
STMicroelectronics is extending its lead in digital automotive-audio technologies by launching a second generation of power amplifiers that simplify design for car-radio system suppliers and deliver better listening experiences to drivers and passengers - even in smaller cars.
