SynQor Military COTS DC/DC power converters
Luso Electronics announces availability of SynQor’s Military COTS Demi Brick Series of DC/DC converters. The products meet the smaller size and weight restrictions of today's military market and offer greater flexibility and choice to design engineers. The Demi Brick is an isolated and fully regulated converter in a 39.4 x 38.6 x 12.7mm (1.55 x 1.52 x 0.50”) size package weighing less than 56g and offers up to 50W of output power...
Intelligent industrial battery charger changing the game
One of Europe’s largest power supply companies, Powerbox, has introduced a product within its Automotive Line, the Smart DC/DC ENA200-Charger. Designed to meet market requirements for intelligent and flexible charging solutions for automotive and industrial demanding applications, the ENA200-Charger includes the latest technologies for intelligent charging.
Fanless power supplies have wide DC input capability
The range of fanless ATX power supplies from Power Conversion Technology has expanded with DC input models for mobile applications. Output powers range from 60-150W with ATX compatibility in a low profile 1U format. By using high efficiency thermal design techniques, the MPD series can operate in fanless configuration up to 50°C ambient without de-rating and have a maximum rating of 70°C.
Compact DC/DC coverters have high power density
The MYMGK series of miniature 'Mono Block' type surface mount Point-of-Load (PoL) DC/DC converters has been announced by Murata. These non-isolated 'Mono Block' type converters are available in two models, a 6 and 20A. Each version is available with two output voltage range options.
Ultralow power transistors could function without battery
A newly-developed form of transistor opens up a range of new electronic applications including wearable or implantable devices by drastically reducing the amount of power used. Devices based on this type of ultralow power transistor, developed by engineers at the University of Cambridge, could function for months or even years without a battery by 'scavenging' energy from their environment.
Custom wound components meet short lead time requirements
A range of fully-custom wound components from Components Bureau includes both high- and low-frequency transformers and inductors, for a wide range of applications, including power supply, lighting, test and measurement, industrial control and automation. The Precision Range of products is designed to fulfil industry’s needs in terms of flexibility, quality and value, while meeting short lead time requirements.
Compact industrial DC/DC converters have wide input range
A series of compact 3W DC/DC converters has been announced by Artesyn Embedded Technologies. It targets a diverse range of low power applications, including data and telecommunication, instrumentation, computer peripheral equipment, industrial automation and mobile battery-powered systems.
DIN-rail power supply series is internationally approved
A 24V/20A output has been added to the CliQ M series of DIN-rail power supply from Delta Electronics. The CliQ M series has the highest power density among the CliQ family and also the first series in the CliQ family to feature Advanced Power Boost (APB). APB work to protect system and ensure continuing operation when large inrush current detected due to faulty load on a multiple load connection.
Cars and flow batteries?
According to IDTechEx, lithium-ion batteries will dominate the automotive scene over the coming ten years and possibly the coming 15 years. During that time we shall see peak lead acid battery the biggest nail in its coffin being when electric vehicles more widely abandon them and even those conventional vehicles modified to stay legal under impending carbon dioxide laws abandon them, relying totally on lithium-ion units.
