MOSFET has low-loss synchronous switching in parallel operation
A 100V, 160A power MOSFET range has been launched by Toshiba Electronics Europe that delivers a tighter threshold voltage (Vth) specification than previous devices. A tighter threshold voltage specification is very important in switching applications and the TK160F10N1L offers min/max Vth of 2.5/3.5V versus its predecessor’s 2/4V range.
Noise performance and efficiency for 40V automotive MOSFETs
STMicroelectronics has launched two 40V automotive-qualified MOSFETs in the latest STripFET F7 technology, which combines switching performance and energy efficiency with very low emitted noise and high immunity to false turn-on.
Precision voltage reference drives up to 200mA
A precision voltage reference that incorporates two high current output buffers has been announced by Linear Technology. Based on a 2.5V bandgap voltage reference, each output of the LT6658 can be separately configured for any voltage between 2.5V and 6V. Both outputs offer 0.05% initial accuracy, 10ppm/°C temperature drift and 1.5ppm of low frequency noise.
Gate driver IC 1EDN offers low power consumption
Infineon Technologies introduces the 1EDN EiceDRIVER family. This single channel, low-side gate driver IC is suitable for driving MOSFETs, IGBTs as well as GaN power devices. Its pin-out and packages are fully compatible to the industry standard, easing the drop-in replacement for existing designs.
USB Type-C devices improve power and data transfer
Expanding its portfolio of USB-compliant Integrated Circuits (ICs), Texas Instruments (TI) has introduced five USB Type-C and Power Delivery (PD) devices that enable engineers to design USB Type-C electronics with better signal quality and protection against system damage. The TUSB1046 family of linear redrivers supports 10G USB data and DisplayPort 1.4 video transfer.
Fanless power supply with medical approvals
Delivering 600W without fan assisted cooling from a compact 8.5x4.5x1U package; the CoolX600 is a convection-cooled modular power supply from Excelsys Technologies. The CoolX600 carries Medical Safety approvals and offers system designers performance for efficiency and reliability in addition to what the company claims is the most comprehensive feature set and specifications available. A five year warranty is also available.
Low profile DIN-rail power supplies have high efficiencies
A series of 10 to 100W DIN-rail mount AC/DC power supplies has been introduced by TDK Corporation. The DRL series has efficiencies of up to 90%. Featuring a low profile and narrow width, the units are suited for wall mounted enclosures commonly used in building automation and security applications. With an average efficiency of up to 87%, the DIN power supplies also meet ErP efficiency standards.
Lithium battery offers a shelf life of up to ten years
The next-gen of Ultralife Corporation's long lasting lithium 9V battery, the U9VL-J-P, has been released. With key improvements to its energy density and cell technology, the battery is designed for applications including smoke detectors, security sensors and medical telemetry as well as test and instrumentation.
High-current density sensor provides precision programming
A family of fully integrated current sensor linear ICs has been released by Allegro MicroSystems Europe which are in core-less packages designed to sense AC and DC currents up to 100A. Allegro’s ACS780/ACS781 are provided in this automotive-grade, low-profile (1.5mm thick) sensor IC package that represents the highest current density of any Allegro current sensor IC package to date.
Relay design evolves to address new applications
Electromechanical relays are continually evolving and adapting to meet the requirements of new generations of applications. For example, longer endurance power relays are needed to address smart meter applications and devices that can withstand higher inrush current are required for inductive load applications like energy efficient lighting.
