Transmitter is FCC-approved for power-over-distance wireless charging
CES 2018: In Las Vegas (9 to 12 January 2018) Powercast will show its FCC-approved PowerSpot transmitter for power-over-distance wireless charging.
GaN transistor shrinks by a factor of eight compared with MOSFETs
A 40V gallium nitride (GaN) power transistor from Efficient Power Conversion (EPC) is eight times smaller than equivalently-rated MOSFETS.
Proact supports NEXT College's hybrid cloud plans
One of Denmark’s biggest upper secondary and vocational colleges has chosen future-proof infrastructure solution from data centre and cloud provider, Proact. When CPH West and Copenhagen Technical Colleges merged to create a broader and improved range of training and education options for young people in greater Copenhagen, NEXT was created. As a result of this merger, three data centres needed to be consolidated to create a more effic...
Getting the right circuit protection
Keeping both business and personal communications moving depends on our ability to recharge devices quickly and safely. However, without the right circuit protection, charging cables and connectors can be damaged by the heat generated by faults within the cable connector or port.
Making SiC mainstream: SiC power converter design toolkits
SiC high voltage MOSFETs and diodes are wide bandgap devices that ensure low conduction and low switching loss. Maximising their performance requires more than just plugging them into your application.
Low forward voltage for higher system efficiency
How would your next power electronics application benefit from higher efficiency, greater robustness, and reduced need for thermal management? With negligible reverse recovery, the new LSIC2SD120 Series of SiC Schottky Diodes reduces switching losses dramatically to boost system efficiency. They also support large surge currents and have a high maximum junction temperature of 175°C.
Three-phase MOSFET driver IC has on-board regulator
A new three-phase MOSFET driver IC with an integrated low dropout regulator supplying 5V or 3.3V has been introduced by Allegro MicroSystems. The A4919 is designed for a wide range of industrial applications, and it can be controlled with block (trapezoidal), sinusoidal, or vector commutation when interfaced with a microprocessor.
Don't run out of juice! Top tips to stay connected
Does your phone often struggle to survive day-to-day use? Constant tweeting draining your battery? Not enough charge to send a picture of a dachshund to your best friend?
Power from the phase
HDPQ SP models are contained in an IP65 (weather/hardened) enclosure. Power from the phase has now been added to the Dranetz Technologies IP65 rated Dranetz HDPQ SP power monitoring instruments. The Dranetz HDPQ Visa SP, Guide SP, Xplorer SP, and Xplorer 400 SP instruments are intended for use in harsh, outdoor and remote environments, or for applications where a LCD display is undesirable.
Panel mount power supply designed for household applications
Delta Electronics has extended its the PMH series of panel mount power supply with 24V 91.2W output certified to NEC Class 2. The PMH-24V100WCNS accepts universal input from 85VAC to 264VAC in a full corrosion resistant aluminium body. Power will not de-rate across the entire input voltage range, providing full power even if the input voltage drops below the nominal voltage.
