The SL series of programmable power supplies, manufactured by Magna-Power Electronics, has been expanded to include 6kW models. The series is now made up of 70 models at power levels of 1.5, 2.6, 4 and 6kW, all in a 1U, 1.75" high rack-mount form-factor.

Featuring DC output voltage ranges of 0-5 to 0-1000VDC and programmable DC output current ranges of 0-1.5 to 0-250ADC, the devices are particularly suitable for automated test equipment system integration, automotive testing, remotely operated underwater vehicles and aerospace systems testing.

Via the front panel, computer interface and isolated analogue-digital I/O connector, users can monitor and control the power supplies. The devices support a Standard Commands for Programmable Instrumentation command set, enabling easy ASCII text programming over a computer interface. Alongside a National Instruments LabVIEW and LabWindows driver, the SL power supplies feature an IVI driver for the Visual Studio programming environment. Additional computer interface options include LXI TCP/IP Ethernet (+LXI), IEEE-488 GPIB (+GPIB), USB and RS-485.

All 70 models are available with three-phase input, including 208, 240, 380, 415, 440 or 480VAC. The 5kW models are also available with a single-phase active PFC universal input, allowing for an input voltage range of 85-265VAC.

"The expansion to 6kW in 1U continues Magna-Power's long-standing commitment to offering programmable power densities," commented Adam Pitel, Vice President, Magna-Power Electronics. "This latest innovation is the result of continuous research and development work in power electronics and heat management, along with further advances in the company's internal manufacturing processes."
