Following the success of the NUC100/NUC120 and NuMicro M051 series, Nuvoton Technology today launched the brand new NUC130/NUC140 series embedded with Controller Area Network (CAN) 2.0B (License from BOSCH). The NUC130/NUC140 series powered by the ARM® Cortex™-M0 processor - the smallest, lowest power and most energy-efficient ARM processor available today, is developed for CAN network applications. With an operating frequency of up to 50MHz, equivalent to 45DMIPS (45 Dhrystone MIPS), the NUC130/NUC140 series can provide a powerful CAN network information communication and data processing capability.

The NUC130/NUC140 series features a 32-bit single-cycle multiplier, NVIC (Nested Vectored Interrupt Controller), dual-channel APB and peripheral direct memory access (PDMA). The series offers built-in Flash memory from 32KB to 128KB, SRAM from 4KB to 16KB and high speed high performance communication interfaces, such as UART, SPI, I2C and USB 2.0 FS. The series also offers rich analog peripherals, including 8 channels of 12-bit high speed SAR ADC, 2-channel comparators, low voltage detector, brown out detector, etc. In addition, PWM outputs and the compare & capture features, configurable GPIOs, hardware RTC with calendar, four 32-bit timers, the watchdog timer and the built-in oscillator also enrich the capability of the NUC130/NUC140 series. With all of these features along with the integrated industrial standard CAN protocol that offers high level of security and efficiency, robust, real-time control with speed up to 1M bit/sec, the NUC130/NUC140 series is ideal for use in industrial control systems including car network control systems, elevator systems, industrial automation, energy, and power systems.

In terms of development tools, Nuvoton Technology provides simple, easy-to-use and full-featured development systems to customers to develop products using the NUC130/NUC140 series. With ISP, ICP, On-line/Off-line programming capability, abundant hardware tools including the NuTiny-NUC140, Nu-Link ( ICE Bridge), Nu-LB (development learning board), standalone writer and gang-programmer are available to help customers shorten the time-to-market for product development and production. Besides the tools provided by Nuvoton Technology, Keil™ RVMDK, IAR™ EWARM and CooCox(http://www.coocox.com/Nuvoton.htm) – a free and open development tool also support the complete development tool chain with project manager, editor, compiler tools and other C-SPY debugger for the NUC130/NUC140 series.

Currently mass production of the NUC130/NUC140 series has begun and all products in the series are packaged with the LQFP48, LQFP64 and LQFP100. Also, there are different built-in memory options in the same package with the same pin assignment to meet the needs of different program functions. In this way, customers can upgrade their programs without altering the hardware design or PCB layout. Nuvoton Technology is continuously expanding the MCU product line to meet the increasing demands of “high performance with lower cost” from customers to create a win-win solution with business partners in the highly competitive microcontroller market.
