Microchip has announced the MCP6561/2/4/6/7/9 (MCP656X) family of high speed comparators, with rail-to-rail input and output, push-pull open-drain outputs and a low quiescent current. With an operating speed of 45ns, the new family of devices offers the high performance and low power options needed by a wide range of applications.
With a supply voltage as low as 1.8V and low quiescent current of 100µA, they can be powered directly from the battery, making them ideal for battery powered devices. In addition, their low power results in less heat generation, minimising thermal related design challenges.

The MCP656X high speed comparator family’s rail-to-rail I/O structure provides greater dynamic range and better performance across the entire operating voltage range, making them ideal for industrial (power supplies, motor control), consumer (RF readers, alarm systems and portable electronics), and automotive (zero-crossing detectors, high speed sampling circuits) applications.
