Maxim introduced the MAX14885E, a complete 2:2 VGA crossover switch that boosts the performance of switchable-graphics applications. This device routes signals from the internal VGA or add-in graphics chip to either the docking station or the VGA port on the notebook. The device's low 6.5pf (typ) on-capacitance and 5ohm on-resistance enable it to provide 2x more bandwidth (up to 700MHz) than existing solutions.
Additionally, integrated ESD protection to ±15kV (Human Body Model, or HBM) saves the expense of external protection diodes. Offering both higher performance and lower solution cost, the MAX14885E is ideal for use in notebook PCs that require support for switchable graphics.

The MAX14885E is the only 2:2 crossover switch to offer a complete VGA crosspoint solution with separate control signals to independently select groups of switches. The architecture integrates both high-frequency and low-frequency circuitry, including DDC signal routing and horizontal/vertical sync buffering for glitch-free switching.
