Contour Electronics has today officially announced the recent addition of a 200m2 ISO Class 7 clean room for the manufacture of medical and disposal single-use cable assemblies in their far eastern manufacturing facility. The clean room represents a significant investment with the facility equipped to cover the entire production chain from cable manufacturing through to injection moulding, assembly, test and packaging.
Installations within the clean room include two assembly production lines, six injection moulding machines, vision inspection systems and force measurement equipment. In addition to the clean room capabilities, a further investment has been made to introduce a ‘Clean’ cable extrusion facility with UV treated water used to cool extruded polymers. Future plans are now being made to double the capacity of the clean room with expansion to 400m2 within the next 12 – 18 months.

The main focus of the clean room is to reduce the risk of bio-burden which can be introduced within the manufacturing processes of cable assemblies. The clean room environment provides constant environmental conditions such as consistent temperature and air humidity which add to a particularly high process stability and reproducibility. The clean room has been built specifically to provide customers with high volume requirements, such as disposable single-use, with clean double-bagged product suitable for further sterilisation processes.

The production site is certified to DIN EN ISO9001:2008 and DIN EN ISO13485:2003 and is fully capable of meeting all of your medical cable assembly requirements.

To discuss your medical cable assembly requirements with us in person, visit us at Electronica 13 – 17th November 2012, Hall B3 Booth 458.
