Intersil has introduced a charge-coupled device (CCD) driver that provides the industry's fastest, most accurate image sensor driving solution for digital imaging products.
The ISL55112 dual CCD driver uses a patented technique to deliver fast, matched rise and fall times into highly capacitive image sensor loads. This results in stable, predictable CCD driver waveforms with minimum variation over temperature while operating at high clock rates. Rise and fall times are user programmable, allowing for the removal of normally required electromagnetic interference (EMI) damping components.

The ISL55112 dual CCD driver meets the needs of portable camera designers by using small 4x5mm TQFN packaging and by providing a largely mirrored pin-out that allows a pair of devices to be used with sensors having dual video outputs with minimal wasted board space. Integration of additional reset gate (RG) and last h (HL) drivers significantly simplifies signal routing and saves space on the sensor board.

With energy-saving features such as quick recovery standby and an ultra-efficient power-down mode, the ISL55112 offers substantial improvements in battery life for digital cameras. It is also compatible with low power 3V logic devices.

The ISL55112 can operate from a supply voltage up to 8V that can be unipolar or bipolar, making it compatible with a wide range of CCD sensor devices, and allowing it to be used in a wide range of imaging platforms.
