Plug and Play Ethernet Media Converter

GAO Fiber Optics has released its Plug and Play Ethernet media converter compliant with the international IEEE802.3u standard. It can be used as a standalone unit or as a slide-in module for a 19-inch converter rack or in a central wiring closet. The media converter is designed to convert data signals between 10/100 Base-Tx and 100 Base-Fx fast Ethernet in order to expand network data transmission distances.
The Ethernet media converter, model 3303, has built-in remote diagnostic capabilities and supports both full-duplex and half-duplex communications. It uses a unique switch chip design and boasts a 512kB SSRAM buffer and 2k MAC address list. This Ethernet converter transmits data at a speed of 100Mbps or 10Mbps within the range of 2km to 20km. It can be used with 8.3/125, 8.7/125, 9/125 or 10/125μm single mode fiber and 50/125, 62.5/125 or 100/140μm multi-mode fiber. Broadcast filtering, address auto-learning and auto-update functions and store-and-forward mechanism are available. SC/PC and FC/PC optional fiber connectors are provided for selection.
