New Chapel Electronics, a TT electronics company, , has increased its range of lightweight thermoplastic composite tubes by adding a high-temperature variant for protection of wiring harnesses close to engines or other heat sources. The new tubing operates at up to 275°C, and also provides high fire resistance and impact protection in applications such as aircraft, road vehicles or industrial equipment.
Post-forming properties engineered into New Chapel’s composite tubing enable extremely tight compound bends for installation in confined spaces, and also permit flaring or belling. Patented manufacturing methods allow this post forming without loss of structural performance. The composite material is also resistant to solvents and chemicals including fuel and oil.

Round, oval or semi-square profiles from 6mm to 50mm are available, and wall thickness can be specified from 1mm to 3.5mm wall thickness. In addition, optional electrical shielding properties can be incorporated to provide protection from electrical interference and emissions.

Compared to alternative rigid tube materials, the composite tubes can achieve tighter bend radii and at the same time offer better corrosion performance than aluminium, lower weight than stainless steel and lower cost than titanium.

New Chapel Composite tubes have been tested to prove their impact protection and are specified for electrical harness protection on exposed areas on the Eurofighter aircraft landing gear where high impact resistance and cable support is a requirement.

The complete range of New Chapel composite conduit tubing, including the latest high-temperature variant, is all readily available.
