Diodes Incorporated has announced its first series of dual gate logic devices, designed to help reduce component footprints in small handheld products, including tablet computers, smart phones and e-readers. The 74LVC2G two-gate parts are provided in the miniature and robust DFN1010 package, measuring only 1mm square and with a maximum off-board height of 0.4mm.
Six dual gate logic devices have been initially introduced, comprising inverters and buffers each in a choice of simple, Schmitt trigger input and open drain types. The devices complement Diodes' 74LVC1G family of 18 different single gate logic functions announced earlier in the year. It is planned that the dual gate logic parts will also be offered in SOT26, SOT353 and DFN1410 package alternatives.

The logic devices' wide operating voltage range, of 1.65V through to 5.5V, means that they will readily support both portable battery operated as well as legacy 5V product design. By typically drawing less than 1µA the 74LVC2G logic will also be of benefit to the more energy sensitive applications.

When powered down, the dual gate logic's output circuitry is disabled to prevent damaging backflow current and to ensure effective signal isolation. 5.5V tolerant inputs enable the parts to be employed as voltage translators.

The 74LVC2G dual gate logic devices are priced at $0.11 each in quantities of 10k.
