AWS Group – one of the UK’s leading independent Electronic Manufacturing Solutions (EMS) providers – has developed its group capabilities to support all phases of a contact, from new product introduction, through ramp up and full production, to MRO (Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul) and end-of-life. This is especially important in sectors such as defence, telecoms, security and mass transport, where products are expected to have a working life running to 10 or 20 years’ service or longer.

Supporting NPI, the Group’s AWS Cemgraft facility in Newbury has a Fast Track prototyping service that can turn around prototype or urgent low volume requests in five to ten days as standard - when really urgent, the company has managed to deliver in 24 hours. At its Newcastle-under-Lyme operation, AWS Electronics can produce prototype cable assemblies in three to five days.

Moving up into full production, AWS Group has state-of-the-art surface mount volume assembly at AWS Cemgraft and full turnkey operations at AWS Electronics. If volumes and economic considerations dictate, a new, recently-opened facility in Namestrovo, Slovakia – which mirrors the UK operations in modern equipment, quality approach, training and technical capabilities – provides low-cost manufacture.
Completing the picture is AWS Jantec in Bedford, AWS Group’s Centre of Excellence for whole life cycle support, repair and refurbishment which prides itself on its engineering staff that provides solutions for customers with legacy equipment, often requiring reverse-engineering solutions due to obsolete parts or assemblies.

Comments Group Sales Manager Mike Fairclough: “One of our key strengths at AWS Group is that our overall capability has been created by closely integrating specialist companies, investing in state-of-the-art equipment, and then bringing them together under one seamless operating environment. By doing things ‘the AWS way’ our customers – who often have very demanding requirements – can be certain that we are the partner of choice for their entire manufacturing product lifecycle…from product creation to end-of-life.”
